Have you ever wondered how to become the best professional ever? This is a trick question specially when it is related to IT field, because there are a huge number of paths to go and so much to learn for each one.
If you are like me, you are always trying to find what would be the next step, how to level up to accomplish more and more. I have put so many thoughts about it, I have watched tons of videos on YouTube, followed streams on twitch for hours, seeking the answer to my question: What should I learn now to be better? I don’t what to disappointing you, but the true is I couldn’t find the answer.
None of the videos on YouTube gave to me the ultimate technology I should learn, none of the streamers I asked could provide me a guide on how to become the greatest. Which brought me to a new question: What characterized the best professional? To whom would I give this title – what is my own standard for it?
Thinking about these questions brought so much light to me that I want to share with you. The formula for the top level of anything you want to do is: WHY! that is it. Nothing else. Ok, lets unfold this thought. Imagene that you need to program a calculator. That should sound pretty much lame and noob for most programmers out there. But adding one piece of information like: the calculator should be able to perform the calculation 2x faster than the current calculators, so the rocket trajectory is 100% reliable. Wow, now the calculator looks fun, right? If you are following the idea, the WHY am I building the calculator changed your perspective.
Everything we have in the world was conceived first as a “WHY” thought. Why means the propose, the goal, the final state before it is put in the real world. If you ever watched shark tank, sometimes the sharks invested in somebody selling t-shirts because the person had an undeniable “WHY” I am selling these t-shirts.
Here it is, want to become the best professional ever, build from “WHY”… Now you narrow down the whole IT field to specific questions: why are you learning other language? why you are learning database? Why are you studying DevOps… and show to the world that the propose you set is valuable to everybody, if it needed use words. Quoting Slipknot on Before I Forget: My end, it justifies my means.
